Part tasting event, part fundraiser, the night supports local initiatives while offering a relaxed way to discover new favorites close to home..

Go green at The Great Pumpkin Smash.

This annual eco-minded event turns post-Halloween cleanup into a hands-on sustainability effort. Instead of tossing pumpkins in the trash, participants drop them off to be composted, helping reduce landfill waste and transform leftovers into nutrient-rich soil. The afternoon includes opportunities to learn more about composting and environmental initiatives, with a side of lighthearted fun as pumpkins meet their end in dramatic fashion. In the spirit of the season, the event also hosts a collection for the Moraine Township Food Pantry, accepting pantry staples for local families ahead of Thanksgiving..

Date: Nov. 7
Time: 4:30–6 p.m.
Cost: Free with Registration
Location: The Preserve of Highland Park, 12017 Park Ave. West, Highland Park

The event also incorporates a canned food drive benefitting a local pantry, tying the morning's activities to community support. It's a family-friendly way to spend time outdoors, stay active, and ease into the holiday season with a bit of friendly rivalry.
