Brookfield Zoo kicks off the holiday season with its annual Reindeer Run, a two-mile evening fun run through the zoo's illuminated pathways. Participants get an early look at Holiday Magic, with lights, displays, and seasonal décor setting the tone for a festive night outdoors. Each runner receives a commemorative winter hat, and while registration is required for anyone running or walking on their own, children riding in strollers can participate for free.

The Grove's Holiday Market brings a festive mix of artisan shopping and seasonal atmosphere to its historic grounds. More than 20 makers and vendors will present handmade gifts—from jewelry and ornaments to home décor, gourmet treats, and stocking-ready finds. Visitors can explore the light-draped outdoor paths, stop for a visit with Santa in the heated pavilion, and enjoy kid-friendly activities and seasonal food and beverages available for purchase. Beyond the market, the 150-acre site remains open to explore, with trails through oak-hickory savanna and a stop at the Interpretive Center for wildlife encounters.
